Cooking Instructions Read Safety WARNINGS, Cooking Instructions and Cooking Tips prior to using TacoPan. See photo album for pics of the cooking process. Add ~3 tablespoons oil in center of TacoPan and turn on heat source to medium-medium high.. To test hot oil for appropriate cooking temperature, place tip of tortilla into hot oil. If oil around tortilla lightly bubbles, the oil is hot enough to begin cooking tacos. Throughout the cooking process, always maintain 2-3 tablespoons of oil, adding additional oil in 1 tablespoon increments, as required.
Place tortilla (flat) in oil. Tortilla is cooked on only one side. It will float on the hot oil. Do not submerge tortilla in oil. Each taco cooks in ~30-40 seconds depending on oil temperature. Immediately add 1 rounded tablespoon of filling in center of tortilla. When taco is cooked, use your (fork) utensils and fold taco in half. Hold fork on top of taco for a few more seconds and then slide folded taco up the pan, to outer edge. Excess oil will drain back into center of pan. Repeat prcoess. Place cooked tacos side-by-side around the pan until desired number is prepared or until you’re hungry.
Cooking Tips - Prepare taco condiments and side dishes. See recipes for suggestions.
- Prepare and cook taco filling. Drain filling of access moisture. See recipes for suggestions. Keep filling warm while cooking tacos.
- Suggested utensils for cooking tacos are 2 forks, one in each hand, which allows for easy taco turning and movement on the pan.
- Average taco cooking time, per taco, is ~30-40 seconds. Cook taco until crisp or to desired texture.
- It is important to monitor and maintain a consistent hot oil temperature throughout the entire cooking process. Temperatures vary based on cook top type and oil type. Adjust temperature to maintain a consistent cooking temperature. Read Safety WARNINGS prior to using TacoPan.
- It is suggested to use the small burner on your cook top. This maintains heat in the cooking center and provides sufficient heat throughout the pan to keep all prepared tacos warm/hot until serving. Using the large burner also works fine too, heat adjustment (down) may be required.
